This is an awesome site. I lived in Negaunee in 1986 with my brother who was stationed at KI. I recently moved here again and was amazed at all the changes. I think it's wonderful to be able to look back. I know I cherish the memories of coming out here with my big bro and watching him work. My brother passed away after retiring from his 21 years in the Airforce. God bless to all who have served and is serving now to protect our great country. Thank You

I am Jims from NC little sister. We had a blast growing up at KI Sawyer. So many memories. I will always remember the time when the KC-135 come for an airshow. Being 4 years old I remember just how really huge this plane was. I still miss all the wild blueberry's we used to pick. The winter blizzard's and still went to school now they call school for a couple of inches. Snow forts and ice skating. Going down suicide hill with our sleds. The lakes and pine trees are like the best especially in the fall.

just stumbled on this site....my dad was stationed at KI between 1968-1972....I went back to KI after the base closed and cried and cried at the disrepair the housing had fallen into. Found my home occupied though.I have a lot of fond memories about living on Vigilante St. One summer we had a fire in the blueberry marsh not far from our home. A group of kids got together made several pitchers of kool-aid placed all in a little red wagon and brought it out to the fireman...they were very thirsty drank the kool-aid and told us to skiddaddle! Went to Gwinn Middle School and remember two classmates that I have been unable to contact for many many years.
Diane Bothwell and Myra Blasingame if anyone knows of their whereabouts please let me know!

Thanks!

Wonderful site.

Hi;
This is the first time I have visited your web site. I was stationed at KI Sawyer from 1966-1968, we lived in the mobile home area. I enjoyed looking at the pictures. We were back there about 8-9 years ago before all the changes, I'm at least glad that they didn't tear everything down.

Checkin in again. Great web site. Was at KI 65-69. OMS B-52’s. Crew Chief 018. Lived in Lil Lake at one of Sorenson’s propery’s. Hung out at Browns and did some party’s with Mustang Sally??? Oh yea the good old days. Good memories and as a young kid learned at lot about life since I missed all that action back at home at the time. Thanks Rich & Carol for bringing me around. Would like to hear from someone from that era
Thanks again

Was at KI from 67 - 74. Lived on Banshee, about 4 blocks from Dead Mans Hill. Winters were awesome and the 2 months of summer were pretty cool too! Went back in 2002 - a lot has changed but the memories are all still there! These days were some of the best days of my childhood.
