I enjoyed your sight. I was born on base 2/15/1964. My family was stationed there for 2 years. My father was a surgeon stationed at KI Sawyer. Never seen pictures before. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Born in KI Sawyer in 1964 while dad (Tom Brown)was a navigator in the B-52's, flying SAC missions. Moved within a year of my birth, so no memories of KI Sawyer, but have great pride in my birth place.

Stationed at K.I. from Dec 72 to July 76. Worked ATC in the Comm Sq. We won base softball Championship in 75, beat our nemesis the Hospital guys. Lot of good memories, too much snow.

Thanks for a nice site and all of the work that you put into making this site. I lived at K I Sawyer from 1962 till 1968. I will always cherish the good memories of the people from the base and also the local people from the Gwinn area. We lived on Hercules Street during that time. I have only been back one time (reunion in 1988) and I look forward to coming back next year for the 40th re-union. I only wish that the young people of today could have the pleasure of growing up with such good people and get the quality of life that we all enjoyed in those years.

1971-1974 (Security Police, Aircraft). I love to visit this site each year. Was contacted by Richard Durant who was stationed with me but on a different flight (shift). It was great emailing him and am glad to hear he's doing well in business and family after the service. Does anyone remember that bar in Marquette called "The Store"? It was a hippy (long hair) hangout back then. It was funny to see the G.I.'s from the base in there with their short hair standing out like sore thumbs and being ignored by the college girls. Yes, I was one of those guys being ignored! Ahh what funny memories!

Thanks a million for publishing your "before & after" map of the M-94 re-routing thru the base. I recently visited KI after a 20-year absence and the main road into the housing area looked far different than I remembered it but I couldn't quite figure out why. I remembered Voodoo as being the primary road between the base & housing with another road located about midway branching off to M-94 which at that time ended at the base (there was a guard shack there)... however, when I travelled it during my visit, the flow of the road was straight from the base to where the old guard shack was. After reviewing your comparison maps, I can sleep better at night knowing my memory isn't failing after all!
