I was an air Force brat at KI from 65 69. Wow did this bring back fond memories. I left at age 14, so many of my summers were roaming the woods and lakes around the base. I got my polar bear badge in boy scouts at the camp on Little Trout Lake. Also enloyed your fathers photos. I joined the AF in 74 for 6 yrs during which i was assigned to the 318 FIS working on F-106's. I also was able to work on 101's and 102's belonging to ANG units. I also went to William Tell and Load comp at Tyndal. I am currently a USAF Civilian. Worked 21 yrs as Auto Hobby Mgr at Fairchild, 3yrs as auto mgr at Ramtein Germany, 2000-2003, and am now a supervisor at Vehicle Maint. It's tempting to go buy one of those houses for a summer home.....

E-mail: jnmttn@yahoo.com 		I was stationed at KI from 1988 to 1991. I was in the Civil Engineering Squadron, my command was Kohanek (sp). KI was the best assigment I thought it was a very well kept secret until it was shut down, (what a waste).

My wife is from Iron Mountain and we were married at the Base Chapel in the housing area on 10.3.1981. We both have such fond memories of that base and were extrmemely saddened when it closed. I would love to hear from anyone who was stationed at Sawyer between 77 & 82!

E-mail: cubby_48mi@sbcglobal.net 		I was at K.I. from 78 to 94, I was in MMS til 1983 and Base Supply till 93 and in CVi till I retired. I did take a break and go to shemya in 86. All my kids where born at K.I. hospital so every summer when I drive the 85 miles north to visit my old stomping grounds many memories flood out... I miss alot of te old friends and hope all is safe.. anyone will to write can doso at cubby_48mi@sbcglobal.net It was truely someplace special.. BTW i lived on Liberator street and in Skandia...
