I went to K.I. Sawyer Elementary and then McDonald's Elementary while my dad was stationed there. We had to leave cuz the base was closing.

I am a mom of a retired AF man who served at KI I believe around 1989 until it closed. Our son is now working on the old base for American Eagle in some of the old hangers. He always loved it there and is still working in avionics. He now lives near the tiny town of Rock south of Gwinn.

Great site. I loved being stationed at Sawyer, both times. First time was 1968 to 1970 and then again from 1974 to 1980. Was in 410th FMS Eng. Conditioning. Remember throwing tool boxes over snow banks so we could work on the bombers (don't miss that). Have gone back a couple times since it closed and was sad to see the condition it is in. Lots of good memories and lots of good friends. Would like to get back together sometime for a reunion. Stopped by to see Ron Gutshall on my last visit to Marquette and recently talked to Larry Breed. Hope to get in touch with some of the other folks soon.

I was at K.I. Sawyer AFB from 4-83 thru 12-87. I was a member of the 410th Security Police Squadron "C" Flight. We had some great times there. I roomed in the dorm with Jim Spartz for a bit, until moving off base. When at K.I., everyone called me "The Beav" or "Beaver", guess I looked like Jerry Mathers. Anyways, I hope life is good for everyone that I knew there. E-Mail me if you'd like. I would enjoy hearing from any of the old swings and mids guys. P.S. Anyone remember the football games under the lights?

I was stationed at KI 410th SPS(twice). Left the base 1990. Just found this site. Great memories there. I got married and had my only biological daughter there...now doing foster care and working at a 911 center in Washington State.

I was 410 SPS from 74 to 76. Even after I left KI I could not forget it. After retiring in Dayton OH, I relocated to Marquette and love it. I enjoy reading the posts from SPS troops and would love to correspond with any former SPs. Great site! Thanks!

A Sad Note: 410th SPS "C"Flt. Flt Chief Smsgt. Larry Patterson passed away on 7/10/2008. I believe he was flt.chief in 1976-78? Very fine man... one of the best we had. To those that knew him,say a prayer and never forget.
