Awesome web site: There are some names that sound familiar. My first base was K.I. Sawyer from Apr 87- Mar 93. Worked the Flight Line until 1990 then went into phase (the union). Worked with Wendell, Merk, Englin, Green (had the wing kings jet), Joyal, Stock, Bastian, and many more I was on 1012 then 0030 (Luck of the Irish) when we had the nose art!! Does anybody have pictures of the ACM testing? Worked with some great folks in Bomber branch and phase. I remember the wrestling matches going onto the C-ramp...Ding-Ding then the lights would go outwhen we were on swings, then all Heck would break loose. Sunday night mids were the best when it was all quite, before the hobarts fired up and would'nt shut down til maybe Friday night. Alert was kick, anybody know where Pruett went to? I am going to hit my 20 years in Dec !! wow that is crazy. Anybody remember Maj. Nunn or Maj Bender? I also ran into Degroot and Hornback and Stock while working on the B-2 from 93-99. Pulled a lot of alert...pushin snow and doing surges watching for the little fire truck to be hanging over on the tanker side hiding !!

My Father James A. Williams was stationed at KI Sawyer from about 1969-1972. We lived on Cammando. I am looking for my neighbors The Pearsons Tammy, Marcy and Brenda. Thank you for this site it is full of great memories.

K.I. was my first and only assignment after tech. school. I was stationed there 4/86 to 9/94 in the 410 MMS as a 411X0B. I started in the old Weapons Release shop near the engine test cell and eventually became NCOIC of Munitions Control (dispatch). While I can't say that K.I. was a dream assignment, I have many fond memories of the friends and relationships I had there. It is sad to see the ghost town that it has become.

I only lived on K.I. Sawyer for a year, but graduating from Gwinn High School I have many fond memories of this place. It was like another world. Thanks so much for the reminder and the reflection.

Just went through all the comments and was great reading them. I do not find all that many from the time I was there. I arrived there in August 1959 and left April 1964. I was in the 56th CAMERON I worked in the Ground Power Shop. Even with the cold it was a great place. It was so remote when I firs arrrived. The fising was the best. The people that owned Winsands Paint store had a cabin with a stream running through and the trout would just about jump in your pocket.
