I was stationed at K. I. Sawyer from 1983 to 1985 in the 410th Supply Squadron. I played a lot of intramural sports and enjoyed Supply very much. I'm glad to see that K. I. is being utilized for local economic reasons. I am originally from Rock Michigan so I'm a Yooper and miss every day away from the U.P. I am currently working at Scott AFB in the AMC Regional Supply Squadron. Anyone that remembers me Please drop me an email.

KI Sawyer was a major part of my miliary career. I was station there from 72-73, 74-76 and again from 79-85. I played a lot of softball for Browns Bar with the locals. I worked at CBPO my first tour, FMS my second and the 200lst my final tour. I met a lot of great people. If there is anyone out there that remembers me, I would greatly appreciate an e-mail. Great site, our politicia**ure destroyed our beautiful base.

I was stationed at K.I. Sawyer from 09/65 to 10/01/1968. I was assigned to HSSW, 410 Bomb Wing, as the orderly room clerk. SSgt Delgado was my immediate supervisor, with Major Jones as the squadron CO and Ivan Johnson as the top shirt.

I was at ki from 1978-1980 working the fuel systems on the buff and kc`s. Lived off-base as sgt in scandia. I remember a lot of good friends made up there as well as the cold weather. Does anyone remember the rock band Powerglide that used to play in Marquette on fridays and saturdays? I ran the light and mixer board for them. I particularly remember 0004 and 1040. Worked those two buffs alot. Also come to mind the tankers 0555,0299 and 8884. WEonder what has happened to them? Would have liked to have gone to the reunion but couldn`t get the time off.

WOW, I have very vivid memories, but I can actually say that I seen no-one from SKY-BOLT St. I was 8 or 9, remember having to sing to Mrs. Haines 2nd grade retirement, sad to say, I still remember the damn song. Everyone remember Earl the janitor and Lisa the receptionist. Doug Ruport lived next to me, along with Dale and all of his brothers (Danny was the oldest), Jeff and Jamey Milzarsky lived around the corner. Ray and Rodney Thomas lived in the middle. Chris Maxwell and his sister lived somewhere in the trend. My father Terry Hartley was with the SPS. He drove a 1970 K5 Blazer that he later painted BLUE, my sisters Deanna and Annie had a great time cheerleading and all. tony.hartley@us.army.mil

Hi, Larry. Great site. I was stationed at Sawyer from May 1960 to Oct 1962 as a 19-year-old two-striper. I was assigned to the 56th Hq Sq and worked in the 56th Ftr Gp Hq building. Your dad probably drove by my workplace daily on his way to work. I saw two references to barracks "in the hole" or "on the hill." Can anyone please explain these terms to me? I lived in the barracks right across the street from the Group Hq building for two years, then moved to the barracks near CBPO. Also can anyone tell me if the old 56th Ftr Gp/Wg building is still standing and being used. Thanks. I visit your site almost every day just to enjoy the pictures. Would like to see more old ones submitted by former Sawyerites!
