I'm a BRAT!!! This is a wonderful website. I lived on the base from the age of 1 to 13. I have the best memories of KI Sawyer. I was a great place to grow up. We were there from 75-89. Angie Baron was one of my best friends in elementary school. I attend McDonald and Sawyer. Will never forget all the snow, nothing compares. It's amazing how many ppl complain about the snow in Colorado, they just don't have a clue.

I was in the 410 OMS form July 1983-July 1993, tanker crew chief, a stint in Q.A. and then left for Tinker when the squadron closed shop. I came down here with quite a few other crew chiefs and sure do miss my time in the U.P. I would still be there if it hadnt closed. I need to make a trip back up there and do some fishing. I have so many names floating in my head right now I know I would miss a few if I started listing them. What a great place to live. Nothing like an ice cold "Blatz" beer after 12 on the line. Spent too many hours on alert teasing those poor Buff "Chocks" down the hall from us, water fights and hauling a** out of the club when the "tan" radio went off. ORI's, Brim Frost, TTF's etc.. what a life we had. The softball tournaments across from Browns. I would like to get a good photo of the memorial that used to be in front of the church if anyone has one-lost some good friends on the tanker in Dyess and think of them often. That was a sad year for all at Sawyer with all that transpired. Too many memories to list here but if any of you remember me shoot me a note. God bless you all and hope things are good for you. Joe

Jim Miller was my supervisor.(sorry jimmy) lol I was just too high strung wasn't I ? I did have fun fishing up there and I regrete losing a great friend, John Wetzel over a woman. What an amazing site! Our family was stationed there from '76 - 79. Went to Leo McDonald Elementary for 6th grade (Mr. Nesbitt?) then into Gwinn for Middle School and Freshman year of High school before my dad retired. My dad was MSG Theron Jeppson (Jep), worked up in SAGE in the CBPO and my mom, Sylvia, was real active in the NCO Wives Club, was even president one year. We lived over on 613 Hercules for our whole tour and I certainly miss the snow. Colorado ain't got nothing on a Michigan blizzard!! All those pictures bring back great memories of snowmobiling, sledding, the yearly Open House, and fishing, tons of fishing. Keep up the good work!

I was born on base July 2, 1973 to Robert and Deboarh. I was just thinking about where I was born seeing how my 35th birthday is coming up. Nice to see that it has a website to give information about what everything looks like.

Graduated, Gwinn High School, Class of '65. Lots of fond memories evoked by this site. Those were, indeed, the 'good old days".
