Wow, thank you for allowing me to go back to a great memory. I was ecstatic to "share" your vacation with you. How do I thank you?

We also lived at KI. It was our first assignment after my former husband's tech school. We were just two young kids from Texas and everything was so foreign. We had two boys there and my oldest claims he still doesn't need a coat when it's cold, because he was born in Michigan. I always thought that the UP was part of Wisconsin until we moved there. I'm glad I found this web site. Very interesting. I have pictures too of the control tower and our little 4-plex on Panther St. I still remember the kids on July 4th wearing snowsuits!

WOW, glad to see there are other people that have visited KIAFB recently. I visited last year 07/04. I was a sheet metal mechanic assigned to 410 FMS 85 to 91. I loved every minute of it. My 2 children were born at the base hospital, I lived at Lot 41 OTC (old trailer court). I want to visit next year for old times sake. If anybody reads this message that is interested in the same please respond.

Great web site, brings back memories. I was there from 1976 to 1980 working in the SAGE bldg in Accounting and Finance, met alot of people that were either retiring or re-enlisting. Spent winters working with the snowplows and cleaning the runway. I was in the dorms (down in the hole) and then rented a trailer in Little Lake with another guy from PA. Is Brown's tavern still there? The snowmobiling was EXCELLENT! Joined the snowmobile club for weekend trips all over the U.P. I would take it to work. I was able to ride in a KC-135 and watched refueling in action over North Dakota! Need to go back soon, Jeff

Hello Larry, I just happened to be doing some browsing of bases my dad was stationed at and started with KI. We lived there from 66 to 70, and your pictures brought back some fond memories. Then it dawned on me that you name was familiar... You sister Julie and I were in the same grade at Gwinn Middle and 8th at the HS... We lived on Panther then later moved to Stratocrusier, small world... Contact me thru email if you'd like. I may have some old pictures to add...

Thanks for the memories. We were stationed at KI from 1988 to 1991 when I retired from the 410 Bomb Wing as a maintenance officer. It broke our hearts when the base closed.

We moved to Marquette and lived on Fitch Street for another four years until Alltel transferred Linda to Little Rock.

We went back to Marquette in July 2003 and visited with our church family (St. Paul's Episcopal on Arch Street). The weather was cool and dry -- a real treat. We have many fond memories of the area.

Just got back from the "reunion". It was a wonderful trip down memory lane. However from a people standpoint , bad. There were only 20 people at the old O club events Fri and Sat pm. Apparently military folks were not in on the planning, it was a marketing event for the Chamber, not a reunion of military folks from days gone by. We too were disappointed by the run down conditions of the housing area. Marquette was a pleasant surprise, restored, neat, clean, great restaurants and scenery. Would be nice to hear from 1961-1967 bomb sq, members.
